A diverse class filled with right and left handed students.
All are fashionable and have their own approach to writing.
Filled with intelligent speakers yet impatient people.
A class crowded with UWC posters but has no room for school pride.
Girls are the majority and boys are the minority.
Welcome to ENC 3O3.

Cowboys & Indians.
Last night "Music saves lives" had a free benefit show in Doral. There were a couple of local bands but Cowboys & Indians are a band that I personally know. We attended church together, and it was amazing to see so many people to come out and support them. I spoke to a couple of close friends about my project, they were more than willing to help out.

Carol City, Florida.
Coral City was the original name for the now "Carol City", but due to legal matters the name is now Carol City. Many have the pre-notions of what Carol City may seem like, and base their perspectives on what media coverage presents. Today, I interviewed an individual who not only grew up there but also to this day resides in Carol City.
I interviewed B about growing up in Carol City, Florida. We began with the hardships that a family had to endure for a brief time. At times money was an obstacle, and growing up in the urban society in general was an obstacle. Gangs were very much present in the streets and in the schools. Several times B was suspended for simply defending himself. With these encounters, B's mother knew it would be best to be transferred. B was transferred to North Miami Beach High School, where he graduated. According to B, if he was not transferred he believes he would not have graduated.
The Carol City education system was very poor in quality. Books were outdated, desks were insufficient and at times students had to share the books. This draws back to the economical standpoint that research has supported. Not only economic problems, but also crime problems. "People like to test other people" B stated when asked whether safety was an issue. Despite the difficulties that Carol City has faced and continues to face, B stays positive and works towards his goals. A Writing major and a business minor, B writes poetry and likes to rap. Many rappers today like Rick Ross are from Carol City, and B is proud of those who represent the city that continues to struggle.

Project Revolution!
This pertains to my personal life, but sheds a dim light to my research. It was my official day of interning at Revolution Live, a venue in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. I have already seen the difference between a "commercial artist" and a "live artist". Commercial artists are those who you hear on the radio, yet do not sell at shows. Live artists are those who hardly get any radio play, but sell out shows. This is just a small detail that I will continue to elaborate while doing this project.
Practice Interview.
Today I conducted an interview based on Literacy. This was a practice interview that will prepare for the Research Project. The interview was about fifteen minutes long.
We began with the educational background of student Tee and where it began. Student Tee began to read in Elementary like most children. During the middle school years she developed an interest in books that pertained to health issue such as the deadly disease cancer. Most children in middle school would favor books on dragons and fictional characters. Yet Student Tee found awareness on a subject that was rarely discussed.Gaining information and much knowledge to the subject, this lead her to her major in College. Student Tee is now a researcher and has a passion for multiple issues such as diversity, handicap accessibility and HIV awareness. All of these issues may have been influenced by the literacy that seemed significant to her. As Student Tee progresses in her educational career she will continue to research.

For Today [Culture Room]
Last night I went to a show at Culture Room. For Today was playing, it was amazing seeing them live. They sound COMPLETELY the same as their record. This really opened my eyes even more to live music. I'm glad this is my project.

Progress!
I wrote my Proposal, and the writing process went well. I decided to base my Project on Live music and the experience that individuals have. I will definitely elaborate, once I retrieve more information.

Back to the basics.
I originally wanted my project to deal with Music, maybe pertaining to the behind scenes production aspect. I thought that this was too broad and not a concrete research project. It's okay to be uncomfortable, and not know which direction to go in. I love the idea and I'll find a topic, soon.
